  • James was in the NICU for hypermagnesemia; a condition brought on by the magnesium sulfate used to treat the severe preeclampsia Gina had during pregnancy. He then came down with jaundice. He’s now a crawling, curious, and extremely happy 9 month old.

  • Alison was born with respiratory problems, low apgar scores, an infection, and a fever. She’s now a precocious 3 1/2 year old who adores her baby brother. “I think my children’s stories serve as a reminder that the NICU helps full-term babies too. Alison and James looked like giants compared to many of the preemies who shared the NICU with them; size can be deceptive, they needed the special care of the neonatal unit too.” – Gina Terry
